3 Weeks to Go!

We’re only 3 weeks away from the Gateways release date! Make sure you’ve pre-ordered the novel, and check out a couple of early reviews on Goodreads. More will be coming.

In the meantime, you can read this week’s sample chapter, where we learn a little bit more about Caryn’s backstory … much as Caryn herself tries to hide it.

The Gateway Fort and the Place with the Columns

Have you been wondering what the cover of Gateways is all about? This week’s sample chapter takes us to the two places that the cover depicts: the Gateway Fort, where much of the action of the novel takes place, and the “place with the columns,” those spiralling columns of light that you’ve been wondering about.

In next week’s chapter we will actually meet General Freed, whom we’ve heard a lot about, and there will be a big reveal at the end, so be sure to stay tuned for that.

If you want to get caught up on the earlier chapters, go to the Sample Chapters main page, where I’ll be posting everything up to Chapter Six in the coming weeks. As always, if you enjoy the sample chapters, please consider pre-ordering the novel!

Cheers,

Brian

Chapter 1, Part B is up!

Chapter 1, Part B of Gateways is posted! It’s a day early because I moved apartments this weekend and my Internet access may be sporadic tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it!

The Pre-Order Frenzy: First Free Chapter is Up

Gateways is starting, very slowly, to enter the real world.

Every Monday evening from now until the release date (October 20), I will be releasing a chapter or half-chapter at the Sample Chapters page of this site. All told, you can read the first six chapters free, right here.

I am pleased to announce that Chapter 1, Part A has been posted! It’s one of the most important pieces of the entire novel (aren’t introductions always like that?) Read it here.

And now for another special request for my friends and supporters:

Pre-orders are very important, and this release of chapters is going to be the major push. My goal is to have people coming back week after week to read these chapters, hopefully building anticipation for the actual release. But I can’t do that alone. Please tell your friends to check out the sample chapters and share a link to Chapter 1, Part A on your Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. I don’t ask you to try to convince anyone to actually buy the book — I’m confident enough in Gateways to believe the chapters themselves will do that — but if you have a moment, please do point your friends in my direction. With all of your support, this launch can become something truly incredible.

Thank you so much, with all my heart.

Brian

New Release Date and Sample Chapters

A column of shimmering white light burst from the ground inches from where Jayla was standing, and she jumped backward, startled. She heard Brenner let out a whoop of joy, and then she saw him, bathed in another column of purple light. New columns started bursting up all around them, red and green and orange and silver. He passed through two of the columns and they seemed to explode into fountains, streams of coloured light cascading down like the tails of fireworks. It was the most beautiful sight Jayla had ever seen.

Friends, gather round.  You seek adventure. You seek light. You seek magic. You have come to the right place.

Two pieces of big news today. First, that which you seek can be yours three weeks earlier than originally planned. The new release date for Gateways will be October 20, 2014 — up from the original date of November 10, 2014.

Second, to help you make up your mind on whether Gateways is the book for you (hint: it is), I am going to be releasing sample chapters or half-chapters every Monday from now until then. Go to the new Sample Chapters page to see the release schedule!

And if you like the sample chapters, please consider pre-ordering your copy of the full novel.

Thank you so much, once again, for all of your support. I am so excited that Gateways is that much closer to being released into the world.
